Yan Woh Tong in The Curve, offers Herbal Chicken Mee Suah that you can trace similarity, if not identical, with our favourite mee suah’s soup that is flooded with herbal fragrance. Although it would not be the best herbal chicken mee suah one can find in town, it is certainly an acceptable version of herbal chicken mee suah that one can find the KL town!

In addition, it is located inside a shopping mall, with a pleasant environment, which is already considered as a benefit for its convenience. Besides that, the shop also offers other herbal delicacies such as Gui Ling Gao, and cooling herbal tea ranges from Chrysanthemum to Wong Lo Kat, which are used traditionally to expel body’s heatiness, tonify the yin and promote better skin complexion.

If you’ve known Emi Fujita for her light ‘Asian-ness’ voice in English-language songs, you have to know who is Olivia Ong, a Singaporean singer whose pop sensations expanded further than just the Great Chinese Market, particularly for her light Asian voice with stylistic jazz elements in her Bossa Nova songs. As the Bossa Nova genre has significant popularity in Japan and Phillipines, Olivia Ong’s albums are exported exclusively to Japan, and she is the only Singaporean artist who has found her success in that country.

If you’re already bored with the songs that have too much of ‘seasoning’ in them, specifically with the inter-mixture-of-style in voice, and is looking for something light, preferably ‘pure’ like Hayley Westenra’s classical voice, in the English-language songs, Olivia Ong’s songs would be perfect and ideal for your taste. She does not submit to the conventional style of the genre, but has blended her style of ‘Asian-ness’  voice into the songs through improvisation, which perfectly matched into the genre of the songs.

You’ve probably heard of the usual claim of where to get the best steak in town, but never once before you’ve heard of where to get the best ‘lamb chop’ in town, and Water Lily is the ideal place you must go if you’re searching for the best lamb chop, or if you’re simply just a ‘lamb chop’ lover.

Lamb Chop

Served with a separate black pepper sauce in a tea cup, or other sauce of individual’s preference, the well grilled lamb chop with its sizzling spashing oil while served, comes with deep fried golden brown fresh potato wedges and a cup of coleslaw as well as watermelon as either pre-meal oral cleanser to freshen and activating the taste buds as a preparation to indulge into the experience of tasting the fanstastic grilled lamb chop, or as post-meal dessert to purify the soul after an excessive sensuality with the lamb chop. Technically, just with a glance of the portion, it would be enough for two ladies sharing, but the aroma it produced would make any of the two ladies to convince the other in ordering another portion as individual’s indulgence.

As for the beverage, nothing from anywhere can beat the papaya ice-blended served in the Water Lily restaurant. Its papaya ice-blended is not any ordinary papaya ice-blended that you get anywhere, but it has additional green leaf in it! So what are those green leaf placed on the papaya ice-blended? Are they just there for better presentation of the drink?

They are MINT LEAF! So one would ask, what is so special about the drink with having mint leaf in it? Well, it does not be there for no reason. With the mint leaf in the drink, it produced a strong foreign scent in the papaya ice-blended, yet an acceptable scent in the category of beverage, and that has accentuated the freshness as well as the fragrance of the papaya. One would never thought that the mint leaf serve such a purpose in the drink because the papaya ice-blended is so good as a whole that one wouldn’t think of anything else but to just enjoy the wonderful drink.

Another film based on Dan Brown’s novel, Angels & Demons revolved around the theme of opposition, as suggested by the title Angels & Demons, which implying opposing forces played by the film; the war between religion and science, and solving the mystery with the collaboration of the opposing forces as well, that are the arts and the science.

Robert Langdon, played by Tom Hanks, is a professor in the Harvard University who is an expert in symbology and its history, led him to become the signifier of the arts force in the film, yet, as an academician, he does not believe in God. Vittoria Vetra, played by Ayelet Zurer, who is a physicist and a biologist, researches the theory of creation with her research team as an advancement in science in explaining the existence of matters of the universe, as well as all living things, which has led her to become the signifier of the opposing force of arts that is science. The collaboration of of these two characters who comes from a contrasting fields of expertise in solving the mystery is somewhat paradoxical with the title of the film as opposing forces, and has implied that peace, or resolution only can be obtained when the opposing forces work in harmony to strive the balance in understanding anything that is controversial, such as Angels & Demons, religion and science, good and evil.

The film started off with the scene of the death of the pope as the collapse of religion in the modern world, proceeding to the scene of a new discovery in the law of physics, as the birth of science as a new God for the explanation of the Creation. The two main characters were introduced after that, where Robert Langdon was invited to assist in the investigation of the four kidnapped cardinals, and Vittoria Vetra went to the Vatican to report the lost of one her team’s research items, which was a dangerous substance that can destroy a space as wide as the St. Peter Square. Both of their cases were somehow linked, as how religion and science linked.

The plot revolved around the investigation of the five elements of the universe; earth, air, fire, water and mystery (spirit, as according to the tradition of witchcraft belief, as these five element construct the pentagram). As the two opposing forces as the universal law of opposition, these five elements served as the construction of matters of the universe, as they are often regard as science in a literal sense, and arts such as suggested in the painting of the Vitruvian Man by Leonardo Da Vinci with a imagined pentagram as representing the structural construction of the human body.

The resolution of the conflict in the story was rather unpredictable. Although there were some hints here and there giving the audience the idea of who might be the ‘bad’ guy, there was a surprise towards the ending of the film with new discovery of the whole truth, as one can always predict that on works by Dan Brown as his style for creating suspense, especially if one has watched and read his controversial work, The Da Vinci Code.

This review is an abstract of the theme the film revolved around with some gist of the plot as well as the story as a whole. The remaining of it would be you being the audience of the film to get the whole picture of the story. It is a great film though, with great amount of details through thorough research by the writer into the history of the church, but of course with some fictionalisation as well, and has synthesized them into creating the film that falls under the thriller genre. I would personally rate this film as, 8/10.
